How To Make Money Using Web 2.0

For every change that arises in the ever changing Internet environment, the internet-marketing community always finds a way to make money from it. Web 2.0 is no exception. In fact, experts say that the greatest money making schemes on the web are in Web 2.0. Since its introduction in 2004, venture capitalists have been putting billions of dollars into Web 2.0, and you can cash in. One of these Web 2.0 make money resources is blogging.

Making money with blogs: the importance of page rank

One great way to make money on Web 2.0 is to create a blog and then use it for placing ads. Blogs have the great advantage that they are quickly indexed by search engines and in this way is relatively easy to draw organic traffic to your blog. But first we need to build Page Rank to our blog. Google page rank (PR) is important to making money using Web 2.0. When it comes to advertising, the page rank on your blog is very important to attract advertisers. The Page Rank is a number from 0 to 10 that basically ranks the content and connectivity of your blog. The higher the page rank, the more relevant is your site. Page Rank is a service of Google.

When you want to make money with your blog, the first and most important thing you need to do is work to improve your page rank. Otherwise, your attempts to make money quickly may render hopeless. In order to get a higher page rank, you need to link to other relevant and high traffic websites, and request that they link back to you. And of course, they will only want to link back to you if it suits their own interests, so you need to make sure that the content on your blog is useful and that you consistently update it. This is certainly an enduring task; therefore, the majority of new blogs are abandoned after few days.

The best websites aren't interested in linking to random blogs that are not much more than a rant or a diary. But if you can speak intelligently about a topic, create a blog about it and go for it! But since you want to make money out of your blogging efforts, you need to choose a topic for your blog that will attract a broad audience and has a defined objective.

You need to get a large base of visitors with a broad demographical scope. Once you do, advertisers will want to market their products on your blog because they know that everyone will be seeing it. Alternatively, you can write about a more specific topic, then target advertisers related to that topic-this is a more risky way to make money, but it can still work, as you will probably face less competition. If you have the time and you're relatively proficient at typing, I would suggest to try both!

Furthermore, Page Rank is important to your credibility in the blogosphere. Page Rank is like your ebay rating. Specifically, if you don't have a high PR, readers may never even see your site, much less stop to read it. You need to realize that there are millions of blogs out there. Lots of people have more than one blog these days and, as the blogosphere gets bigger and bigger, it may become more and more difficult to gain exposure for your site. That's why it's important to start working on your page rank, by racking up high traffic links from relevant sites as soon as you can and continue to do this throughout the lifetime of your blog, because if other sites to which you are linked go dead, it will be reflected as a lower page rank for you.

In conclusion, it is possible to make money with blogs, but it requires 1) a continued effort to build back links to increase page rank by integrating your blog into the enormous network that is the world wide web and 2) to provide useful, relevant and updated content. This second factor in turn will help to increase your page rank, because you will get more easily websites to link back to you because of your content. Getting high page rank blogs will make you money, because advertisers want their ads to be on blogs that get noticed. Having a high traffic blog is like having a well oiled money making machine, because you not only can sell advertisements, but you can advertise your own or affiliated products. But please, do realize that a profitable blog can only be built with time and dedication.

Another source of money using Web 2.0 is using the social bookmarking and social networking sites to promote your products, but that will be discussed in another article.
